R.S.Bruce offer a wide variety of toll processing capabilities, we have been processing on our site since the mid 1970’s. In that time we have built up a wide range of chemical, mechanical and thermal technologies.
Our site has excellent links to all transport networks, experienced and skilled staff, and a wide range of equipment and operating licenses.
Metal Separation, Extraction & Recovery
Processing of combined metal items and components to separate the metals into valuable separate streams of increased purity. We employ mechanical and chemical processes using acids and alkali, to separate materials and metal oxides such as ruthenium or iridium on titanium, Inconel, silver on copper, tungsten carbide, platinum and palladium surface coatings from multiple alloys and other substrates including alumina. Significant expertise and experience in extracting precious metals from liquids, using chemical leaching, filtration and Ion Exchange technologies and engineered solutions.
Size Reduction, Shredding, Crushing, Milling, Screening
Crushing of slags, ingots, and other solid materials; metals, ceramics etc. Processing enables further processing for input into manufacturing processes, smelting and refining for alloy manufacture. We employ a range of plant and equipment including jaw crushers, shredders, thermic lances, hydraulic shears, hammer mills, ball mills, vibro-mills, shot blasters, granulators, grinders and sieves. -All plant is located on our March Street site in Sheffield.
Toll calcination, firing and incineration services. We have an indirect fired calciner capable of processing materials at 700 °C, a direct fired gas kiln with a maximum operating temperature of 1500 °C and two gas-fired thermal pre-treatment units. Our thermal processing capabilities operate 24 / 7. Processed materials can be packaged in kegs, boxes, drums and 1-tonne bags.
Chemical Mixing, Blending and Packaging
All stainless steel construction, 30m3 mixing and blending tank, jacketed for cooling and heating and in excess of 200m3 of associated storage. The mixing tank is suited to liquid blending, slurries and solids dissolution. Tanks can be loaded directly from a road tanker, from our storage, or from above in the case of solids. The tanker loading and filling station is fully bunded. All tanks are on load cells connected to a centralised control system. In addition, the plant has a demin water facility, producing 2te per hour of demineralised water.
Assay, Process Development , Testing and QA Lab
An on-site laboratory facility to enable us to assess all incoming materials and develop effective and often novel recovery processes. We have a wide range of high specification equipment including IPC OES, Microwave Digestion, Auto-samplers, Ion Exchange Columns, Stirred Reactor Vessels and Distillation Equipment, along with the basic lab equipment for Titrations, pH, Density etc..
